Dr. Edward Blick wrote the following about “Mike’s New Reality”
Review of “Mike’s New Reality”
As a retired engineering professor and one who has been battling the evolution fairytale for over 40 years, I’ve never read a book quite like this. I would classify it as “truth through fiction”. This is a wonderful story about a young man named Mike who had been a high school science teacher. Mike had been raised in a Christian home, but in college abandoned any pretext of believing in Jesus Christ as Creator and Redeemer. He chose to believe in evolution. Later Mike completed his PhD in Education and was about to accept a job teaching evolution in a university. At that point a good friend invited Mike to a creation seminar. The seminar greatly upset Mike as it challenged his belief in evolution. Mike then read Darwin ’s “The Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life” and discovered that even Darwin believed in a Creator! . . .
Throughout the book one sees “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28). A bonus in this book are the evangelistic sermons and lectures based upon God’s creation.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mike’s New Reality! The characters are likable and realistic. The novel’s drama is pulled from the real-world conflict the Bible-affirming Christian often encounters over dissent from Darwin.
The basic premise of Buddy Helms’ novel is simple: The protagonist, Mike Evans, an avowed evolutionist is invited by a Christian friend to hear a Creation speaker, after which he has a crisis of faith. Determined to convince his friend that he’s wrong about creationism, Mike bones up on his Darwin, but actually reading The Origin of the Species and Descent of Man convinces him that evolution is more philosophy and argument than science.
The rest of the story explores Mike’s developing faith and ministry in the face of increasing resistance from the evolutionist establishment. Mike’s New Reality reads like a modern-day In His Steps for Biblical Creationists; like Charles Sheldon’s classic work of fiction, we are presented with a down-to-earth yet inspiring tale of believers working shoulder-to-shoulder to build one another’s faith, fight error, proclaim the Gospel and further the Kingdom! Author Buddy Helms evidences an unapologetic confidence in the power of God’s Word to change lives and destroy the lies of Satan.
Interestingly, Mike Evans is converted by the arguments of Kent Hovind. Accordingly, I had thought to contact Creation Science Evangelism to suggest they add Helms’ book to their arsenal somehow. It appears I’ve been beat to the punch! In fact, CSE posted the following in an email with a link to the book at their e-bookstore:
“Take an adventure in faith through a riveting story about a man who tried to defer—by education—Bible truths he had learned in his childhood. Walk with him as the more he learns about science and truth, the more he is led to believe in the Almighty Creator and His Word.
Author and Pastor Buddy Helms tells the story of a professor, Michale Evans, who, while experiencing life-changing circumstances, is confronted with his atheistic and evolutionist thinking by Dr. Kent Hovind’s Creation Seminar Series and debates.“
I highly recommend this book! It is enjoyable, thought-provoking and ultimately inspiring!
Mike’s New Reality is available on Amazon, from CSE and Tate Publishing.

The next book, Mike’s New Reality, is ready to go to print. It will be officially released within about three months, but I should be receiving my first copies within about three weeks. I will be having another book published that is about end time events, and it will be available in about four months.
Mike Evans was science major and a defensive end, and he was looking forward to a career in the NFL. He had plans for the future, and everything seemed to be on track. His friend John, was looking forward to some great seats at the games and seeing his best friend set new records. Everything would change on a Saturday afternoon, and both Mike and John would be faced with a new reality. Dreams don’t always come true, and sometimes, God has things planned for us that we never even dared to dream. Mike, John, and their families will have an encounter with destiny that will change all their lives. There may be a few bumps in life’s road, but there may be a miracle in your future. Dare to dream! Dare to believe!

All the kids are anxiously awaiting Christmas, and I am eagerly awaiting the first copies of my next book . I haven’t even heard when the official release date is, yet. The final proof has been returned and the final edits have been made. I don’t think Santa will bring me a copy. Maybe the new year’s baby will. Who knows.

Coming soon: Mike’s New Reality
I should be receiving the final proof of this book within the week, and after final edits, it should be available within a couple of months. May it be a blessing to all who read it! It was a great deal of fun to write.
Mike’s New Reality is a Christian novel about a young man whose understanding of life is challenged causing him to rethink his worldview. Playing football at a state university, he looked forward to a career in the NFL. As a science major, he knew he could also be a teacher and possibly a coach someday, but his dreams were much bigger than that. Everything seemed to have fallen into place for him, and he felt his life was on the right track until something derailed all his plans.
Challenged to rethink much of what he had been taught, he struggled with his beliefs about everything. He didn’t believe in God, but he knew that science couldn’t disprove his existence. Superstitious people with antiquated ideas angered him, and he became physically ill any time he had to attend a church service. His life was about to change. Everything was about to change!

Here’s a line from a new book that I am working on. What do you think? “You are what God says you are, not what you think you are, and not even what others say you are.”

Why do Christians argue about Bible versions? I have friends that think the KJV is the only way to go, and some even say it is the only inspired version. I wonder how the church survived the first 1611 years without it. Jesus Christ is Lord, and he is the Living Word of God. What you do with him and how you respond to his offer of salvation is what really matters. I’m very partial to the King James Version because I grew up with it, but we need to remember that the Bible is not God.

Everyone will know the truth. They will either learn it and embrace it in this life, or they will learn it when they die. Do you know the truth, or are you waiting until you die when it will be too late? What hinders the world and keeps people from learning the truth? The wisdom of men, which is foolishness with God, is readily embraced and celebrated by many people. The idea that man is responsible for his own existence and that he can continue to pull himself up from his primitive origins one day establishing a Utopian society is an exercise in pride and self-deception.
The last few days have been somewhat trying but exciting. Computer problems have hindered progress a bit, but I have sent in the final draft of my next book, and it is moving to cover design and layout. Mike’s New Reality An Adventure in Faith is another step closer to completion. Carla and I have a trip to Florida planned in the next couple of weeks. We will be doing interviews and gathering information for my next book. There will be more information as things develop, but this one should interest a lot of people.

Are you living in fear and frustration? Move! The closer we move to God, the less frustration and fear we feel! “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.” (I Peter 5:6-7) “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” (I John 4:18)

Psalm 122: 6 says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” It seems that politicians are still trying to establish a peace agreement in the Middle East, and this is a commendable goal. I’m not certain that they understand all the implications though, and their means and methods are somtimes questionable as well. The Palestinians and the entire Islamic world want Israel driven into the sea or annihilated completely. There will be peace when the Prince of Peace arrives, but before that time a false peace will be established by — you got it — politicians. It has been interesting to watch over the years, but when you pray for the peace of Jerusalem, remember that you are praying for the return of Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus). he won’t come back as “gentle Jesus meek and mild.” He will return as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Pontius Pilate, when examining Jesus, asked: “What is truth?” People are still asking the same question today. Can something be true for me and not true for someone else? Does absolute truth even exist? Pilate didn’t wait for or even expect an answer. The embodiment of truth was standing right in front of him, but he didn’t expect an answer. Perhaps that is the problem. The world does not expect an answer. Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6) Even the enemies of Jesus knew he spoke the truth. “And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.” (Matthew 22:16)

For those of you that are students of God’s Word — Does the Bible have a central ongoing theme? If so, what is it? I think it’s all about a relationship that was lost which God has rescued for those who will accept it. What do you think?

God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. How we choose to respond to Him determines our destiny. What will we do with Jesus Christ? How will we respond to what He has done for us?
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
