About the Author
Hello, my name is Martin Hayes. I guess the best way to start an ‘about the author’ page would be by starting at the beginning but I promise not to go into great detail. I was born in the 60s but not by any means a flower child. My brothers and sisters belonged to that group. I recall my growing experiences more to be around the late 70s and I remember every day of the 80s. I grew up in a small Nevada town and had the best friends a teenager could ask for. I did my share of partying but for the most part I think I was a pretty good all around kid.
With adulthood came independence and responsibility. I moved from my hometown to the opportunities found only in the city. I did well there and soon I was a father to be. We were so young but I worked hard and my wife was a great mother. Opportunity called and led us north to start over in the Treasure State. Four more children followed the first and we struggled but did our best to overcome the hundreds of obstacles that young parents encounter. The weather, overcast and lack of work led us back to Nevada where we continued to have struggles. I guess we were too young and stubborn to figure it all out. Our marriage failed.
I have always stayed in touch with my children and love them all so very much. I recently attended my youngest daughter’s high school graduation and my oldest daughter’s wedding. I was proud to give her away. My oldest daughter and oldest son have given me grand children and I love those two so much.
July of 08 brought me a woman I love so much. We were perfect for one another and we decided we should make it permanent. In July of 09 we were married and we also had a baby on the way. Angie had never had children and always hoped to find Mr. Right. I fit that category and a baby was in our plans. Carson is 7 months old now and a great add on to our lifestyle.
In 2001 I was writing some poetry of mine past my mom to see what she thought of it. Of course she loved it but more importantly she said words that forever changed my life. “You should write a book.” From that moment on I have written constantly. I am now published and have several more books to hit the press. I’m excited about where my life is even as the economy tries to keep us down. There is a lot of love in our home and that is what makes everything ok. My family may be spread out and mixed, but we all love each other very much. God hears our prayers and keeps us all together. I love you Angie. And to all of my wonderful children Katelynne, Ryan, Kyle, Carson, Darren and Jessika, I love you all with everything in me.
My book is published through Tate Publishing, a mainline publishing house dedicated to working with aspiring authors and giving their book its best chance in the marketplace. If you’ve ever thought about publishing a book, you should visit http://www.tatepublishing.com.
