About the Author
After spending 17 years as an award-winning sports writer, covering high school and college sports for the Chattanooga Free Press, God called me into the incredible world of student ministry, where I have been for the past 13 years. As a student minister in Brewton, AL, my desire is to see teenagers and young families realize their full potential in Christ and to fulfill His plan for their lives. Fathers are especially at the heart of what I love most. My desire is for fathers to encourage as well as challenge each other to raise a generation of boys who will take a stand for Christ.
In today’s crazy world, I don’t know if there is any more important calling than fathers modeling a faith in Christ to their children.
I love being involved in the community and ministry, and currently serve on the boards of the local YMCA, Little League and Brewton Elementary School; as well I love coaching baseball and football and helping direct the Brewton-area Fellowship of Christian Athletes Kids’ Camp each summer.
While trying to be a positive influence on young people, I also want to be an encouragement to their families as well. Through the great student ministry agency Youth Specialties and Mark Matlock’s WisdomWorks, I am a certified presenter for their great Real World Parents Seminars and have opportunities to lead these events at churches all over.
After growing up in Chattanooga, TN, I graduated from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. My wife Rachel and I have been married over 12 years and we have four boys who have given us many stories to tell.
