I wish this book had been written when I lost my brother. It would have made my family’s loss a lot easier. I cried a lot of healing tears. Breathing on Purpose: Surviving the Death of a Loved One is from the heart! It’s a must read for anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Zondervan’s faith brought her through some very dark times. It gave me courage to go on another day, and with God’s help, I will prevail!

—Lea Stoler (loss of brother)

A beautiful, soul-touching book. Zondervan’s sensitive insight is a true source of healing for this mother with empty arms. Her testimony to the grace of God is awe inspiring and the very essence of Romans 8:28 (The Message), “Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail … is worked into something good.”

—Jaci Acuña (loss of unborn baby)

In Breathing on Purpose: Surviving the Death of a Loved One, Jessica Zondervan shares her personal experience with loss and the faith that pushed her through it. Her story is both genuine and inspirational! I have personally struggled with the reality of death and the grieving process. InBreathing on Purpose: Surviving the Death of a Loved One, Zondervan provides scriptural knowledge and comforting words that have helped me in dealing with the loss of my loved ones. This is an absolute must read!

We all have to deal with death and the blaring absence of people who have made our lives fonder, who made our life our life, people we deeply love. When I go through that time, I’ll want this book close by. Who can better understand the magnitude of grief than someone who unexpectedly lost her mom a month before her wedding on New Years Eve and then two years later her father died suddenly of a brain aneurysm also on New Years Eve? She’s fiercely honest and relatable and doesn’t fail to encourage with the hope of God’s Word. If you are grieving or know someone who is, this would be a great encourgement.
