Dr. Ira E. Williams is a Retired USAF Reserve Major, senior navigator and former private pilot, who served in Korea and was reactivated briefly for the Cuban Crisis.
As a board-certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon he is a qualified facial reconstruction surgeon and anesthesiologist. Dr. Williams also has extensive experience in medical malpractice litigation as both an expert witness, including testifying as the second surgeon for previously harmed patients, and as a medical peer reviewer and insurance consultant.

Dr. Williams’ career combination of both military and private aviation and major surgery and anesthesia, malpractice litigation and medical peer review have greatly contributed to his unique understanding of how the reliance upon medical malpractice litigation and the failure to properly use medical peer review as the principle method for the review of questionable patient care has systematically crippled our entire health care system.

Dr. Williams, early in his career, demonstrated his innovative foresight into how to create advancements in health care delivery when in 1970, acting alone, he organized the first one-week surgical refresher course “mini-residency” for the surgical correction of facial deformities at Methodist Hospital, Madison, WI. Practicing surgeons from five Midwestern states participated in advanced surgical correction of jaw deformities for several patients over five days. The second such mini-residency was held at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX and this method of advanced surgical training for practicing surgeons subsequently became a common event in oral & maxillofacial surgery throughout the country. Medical leaders of every specialty bemoan the absence of such retraining “mini-residency” programs throughout their profession.
