This book, “Bringing Balance to Business and Life” is an abridged version of the education programs I developed for executives, supervisors, business owners, and those aspiring to be any of the above. As small as it may seem, it covers many of the challenging situations that affect the balance of executives and people in critical positions in companies throughout the world. It provides guidelines for effective leadership and more importantly how those guidelines can reduce stress and anxiety that often end up spilling over to one’s personal life.
You can read this book in one sitting and, I would suggest, simply keeping it close at hand for future reference. When situations arise that create stress, either in your workplace or at home, pick up this book and I believe it will point you in a direction of resolution to your challenges.
As complex as life seems sometimes, it can really be reduced to simple and manageable chunks, if we stop and address it one piece at a time.
Climbing the ladder of success in business/life often creates complexities that requires dealing with the incredible diversity of humankind. In the first section you may want to review my PILLAR concept on page 53, and perhaps The Ten Commandments of Fair and Firm on page 59. Often life’s many challenges cause us to stray from the image we had aspired to become. I would suggest taking five minutes and revisiting the exercise on page 93.
If you feel you are completely out of balance with the business you selected as your career, then please read The Right Business Suit starting on page 191. “Metaphorically speaking, you should select a job, take a position, or start a business that reflects your personality –one that suits you, one that feels good to you” –this is an excerpt from page 193 of that section.
In the final section of the book, I talk about the importance of family and how that relates to true success, “True success is measured in your ability to accomplish goals with little to no collateral damage to your family. Write family into your daily and weekly schedule and you will find an immeasurable source of your drive and fuel for your creativity.”
There’s something here for everyone, and it requires only a short read to obtain the right approach to many daily challenges.
“If one intends to walk along life’s tightrope, strung between the monuments of business and life, one should be well practiced in the art of balance.” –Norman Gaither
