Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.
2 Samuel 14:14
Veronika saw how the scriptures spoke to her. The above verse details her journey. Her life was like the water spilled on the ground. She could recover the past or the years of her incarceration and alcoholism. They were spilled and could not be recovered.
So we must die. But not in the literal sense. Veronika had to die to self. To let go of everything and become a new creation in Jesus.
God did not take away her life. It was Veronika’s troubled past and despair that led her to want to end her life and so she did. But God brought her back to life.
She was banished from her family and God devised ways to bring Veronika to Him through AA, church, friends and His love.
And most importantly He did not allow her to become estranged from Him through the crisis in her family. He held her tight and she clinged to Him with a determination never to be separated from Him or return to her past ways.
