“From Pam Onyanyo, President & CEO, Cedar Investment Group”

To my friends-

I want you to join me in support of this young and talented girl Ehi Ike who at this tender age of 14 has “authored” a book something that many of us just wish and long for. How many kids of her age will be thinking  “yeah” let me write a book? Kidding me not me when I was her age!

When her father brought her picture to my office one morning and she was just two days-old still in “intensive care” with tubes on this tiny little “Angel” and the father said with a huge smile and pride on his face…look at my beautiful little girl…her name is Ehi. I remember holding the photo in my hands and I said to the proud father “WOW” she looks so much like you. I still have that photo!

TAKEN AWAY by Ehi Ike- is just a story-book based on “fiction” but in reality how many fictions we have seen turn into reality? When I read the story I couldn’t help but to imagine something like this really happening to the human population growing at a speed it’s going, some government especially in the most populated countries like China, India and who knows USA might just step-in to take kids from low-income families with more-than two kids.

I am supporting this kid because she has a bright future and more importantly when girls her age are looking up to Rihana, Britney Spears and boys want to be like Mike, Kobe, LeBron…she wants to be an “AUTHOR”. She is a true role model to young kids and that is why she has my full support and I’m appealing to my friends to join me in promoting her “book” and please tell your friends too. Our target is to reach at least 100,000 readers before official release date of June 8th, 2010.

From the St. George’s Independent School

St. George’s Independent School freshman Ehi Ike, 14, has loved to read and write since she was old enough to put pen to paper. She began writing short stories in elementary school but had trouble completing a project because she was continually coming up with new story ideas. It wasn’t until the eighth grade, when history teacher Traci Erlandson taught a lesson about the Trail of Tears and the forcible removal of Cherokee Indians from their homeland in 1838, that Ike determined the storyline for her recently published novel, “Taken Away.” She sat down during the winter holiday break to write the fast-paced thriller about a 14-year-old girl snatched from her home by government officials after Congress passed a law forbidding children from lower-income families to live with their parents. Ike, with no agent and no clue about how to go about publishing her 170-page novel, researched the process online and sent her story to Tate Publishing. A short time later, her father received an email stating that Tate Publishing was happy to accept her manuscript, and the editing process began.

“Taken Away,” to be released June 8, will be available at Barnes & Noble and Amazon
