If you want to research anything and everything - this is the site to visit. They have huge databases of searchable information and will even create a chart for you of the information you select.

For instance, if you want to know what the gas prices were from 2000 - 2010: Go to Inflation and Prices, click on Average Price Data, click on Top Picks, Select Gasoline all types, and tell it to Retrieve Data. You can also click on Change Output Options to select a certain range of years and there is a button to check whether you want to include graphs. I clicked that I wanted a graph and this is a screenshot example of what you see:

Specific Earthquake Information

The U.S. Geological Survey website is a great place to track earthquakes and other natural disasters. The logo below leads to the particular section of their website that provides searchable information regarding earthquakes worldwide and even by state. You may find it surprising to check the Seismic Hazard Map in your own state. It also provides earthquake information past, present and future.
